I think I have been in that area - is this near the boardwalk (from the main entrance) - but on the other side of the creek?

I walked all the way to the wetlands near I-485. Somewhere along the way near the junction of a smaller creek and McAlpine Creek is a deer stand. I have a photo if anyone needs to see it.

I am sorry to hear that Dave Cable left. He was such a great director.

Thanks. I appreciate the work your group is doing, and with all the efforts on the Carolina Thread Trail.

Hi John, The large majority of our conserved lands are privately owned and controlled by the landowner. Thanks for your interest!

Hi Tim, Thanks for your interest. When a landowner decides to conserve their property, the most common method is through a conservation easement through which the landowner retains control and ownership of the land. You can read more specifics here. Once the land is conserved, it is permanently protected by the terms of the conservation easement -- even if and when the land changes ownership. Our land protection team works closely with landowners interested in conserving their property to ensure the conservation agreement works best for the landowner and the property being protected. If you're interested in learning more, please email or call our land protection paralegal, Tonya.

I am an adjoining land owner and I am curious what it means with the land being put in a conservacy?

Can houses ever be built on the land, and if so, how many will be allowed? Can the timber ever be cut? Is the wildlife protected (will any hunting be allowed?)
