Event Details

Celebrate National Public Lands Day today on your public land at Crowders Mountain State Park! 15 miles of trail throughout Crowders and Kings Mountain State Park are part of the Thread Trail network.

Volunteers will conduct a variety of trail maintenance tasks with the leadership of park staff and their volunteer leaders.

No experience is needed! We will show you exactly what to do. It’s easy!

Friends of Crowders Mountain State Park, the state park and Carolina Thread Trail will provide project direction, tools, work gloves, water, Gatorade, snacks and lunch. Volunteers must be 16 years to volunteer and accompanied by an adult if under 18. Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes to participate and encouraged to bring a water bottle to refill at the workday and a day pack to hold their personal belongings.

All registered volunteers will receive an event details email the Monday of the workday and a reminder the day before by 12 noon with a weather update. There is no rain date for this workday.

Trail Masters – you do not need to arrive early.

**In compliance with North Carolina Executive Order 147 and current CDC guidelines, Carolina Thread Trail are taking the following steps and exercising additional precautions to ensure the safety of event volunteers and staff:

  • Limit workday to 20 total participants
  • All staff using masks
  • Encouraging all participants to use masks
