June 11 – Sunset Mountain Bike Ride at Overmountain Victory Trail: Lake Welchel

Bring your own bike and join Bret, director of the Carolina Thread Trail, to explore a different section of Thread Trail each month! Bret will offer a brief overview of the future plans for expansion of this trail segment, then we’ll hit the trail for a relaxed ride and a tour of all the trail has to offer.

This segment of the Carolina Thread Trail loops around Lake Welchel, and forms part of the Overmountain Victory Trail, which traces the route used by patriot militia during the Kings Mountain campaign of 1780. Note that this trail is a mountain bike single track rated as intermediate difficulty by MTB Project. You can find their web page for the trail here.
