Nov. 17 – MTB 101 – Beginner Mountain Bike Skills Overview
*Pre-registration is required for this free event.
Join the Carolina Thread Trail and Shawn Gentry, a local NICA coach and BICP / PMBIA certified mountain bike skills instructor and guide for a FREE clinic covering essential skills for the beginner mountain biker. We’ll start at the Little Sugar Creek Greenway access at Tyvola Rd and ride down to a field for technical skills demonstrations and practice, followed by an optional ride in Park Road Park, right off the greenway. Many Carolina Thread Trail segments are mountain bike friendly, and Shawn encourages folks to get outdoors and use them.
Shawn runs CLTMTB.com and offers programs for children as young as 7 throughout the school year, as well as private coaching and skills clinics. In the Summer, Shawn runs CLTMTB Camp – an awesome week-long, day camp teaching kids ages 7-12 years old the basics of mountain biking, outdoorsmanship, leadership, basic first aid, as well as many other skills and knowledge to keep them safe and having lots of fun in the woods.
This clinic aims to do the same for anyone interested in becoming a better rider. In order to give all participants adequate time to learn and practice their skills, we will cap attendees at 12
people, so sign up quickly to claim your spot!
This bike ride is offered for FREE by Catawba Lands Conservancy (CLC) and Carolina Thread Trail (CTT) along with Shawn Gentry of CLTMTB.
