TreesCharlotte/NeighborWoods: Volunteers needed for upcoming tree plantings

Catawba Lands Conservancy is looking for volunteers for three upcoming tree planting events that are part of TreesCharlotte/ NeighborWoods.

Please sign up today via email at heike@catawbalands.org to volunteer and help plant trees around the City of Charlotte.

The tree plantings will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the following days:

Sat., Oct. 19 – McIntyre Community

Sat., Nov. 9 – West Charlotte High School

Sat., Dec. 7 – Brawley Farms Community

These tree plantings are part of the NeighborWoods program of TreesCharlotte. CLC manages NeighborWoods which has a goal to increase tree plantings yearly – to 3,500 trees annually beginning in 2016 – through volunteer events in neighborhoods across the city. With the help of volunteers and community members, approximately 1,000 trees have been planted since the preliminary launch of NeighborWoods in spring of 2012. This effort helps ensure that Charlotte’s tree canopy will continue to enhance our community and environment. For more on TreesCharlotte, click here.

Did you know trees are the longest living organisms on the planet? They keep our air supply clean, reduce noise pollution, improve water quality, help prevent erosion, create shade, and help make our landscapes look beautiful!

HOW TO VOLUNTEER:
Volunteers must first register via email to heike@catawbalands.org, and are asked to bring work gloves and to wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, and closed toed shoes appropriate for digging.

Please consider volunteering to help expand our precious tree canopy! To register for either tree planting or if you have questions, please contact Heike Biller at heike@catawbalands.org. We are grateful for your support and are counting on your help! Thank you!
