Event Details

Believe it or not, Gold Hill, NC in Rowan County was once the envy of its entire region- even the Charlotte mayor hoped that one day his city would be as prosperous as Gold Hill. Though the gold rush that gave Gold Hill its name and its place on the map has long since ended, the town keeps the history alive through the Gold Hill Mines Historic Park and the Gold Hill Rail Trail. Join us for a guided tour of the history and ecology of this unique region from a local historian, and learn about the importance of the Carolina Thread Trail in connecting people to these unique attractions.
