**In compliance with local North and South Carolina policies and current CDC guidelines regarding Covid-19, Catawba Lands Conservancy and Carolina Thread Trail are taking the following steps and exercising additional precautions to ensure the safety of program participants, volunteers, and staff:

  • All programs outdoors
  • Limit program capacity to 25 or fewer. This program’s limit is 10.
  • All staff using masks
  • Encouraging all participants to use masks and follow social distancing guidelines at all times.

Come explore the beautiful South Fork Trail with us!  This historical trail was first used by Native Americans, and then by settlers for textile mills. It is part of the butterfly highway, and is home to several species of pollinators, as well as birds, reptiles and amphibians, and mammals. The land surrounding the South Fork Trail makes up the Pharr Yarns Preserve, a 94.8-acre preserve protected by the Catawba lands Conservancy.

  • Course: 4 miles (2 out and 2 back) on easy, natural surface trail
  • Time: Thursday, December 17, 10am- 12pm

  • First aid equipment
  • Light snacks
  • Extra face masks
  • Hand Sanitizer

You Should Bring:

  • Full water bottle
  • Comfortable walking or hiking shoes
  • Sunscreen, bug spray as needed
  • Personal Face masks and hand sanitizer
