Apr. 10 – Forest Fitness Walk at Lower McAlpine Creek Greenway
*Pre-registration is required for this free program
We’ll keep a fitness walking pace while being sure to pause to discuss any unique wildlife or ecological features we come across. This segment of the Thread Trail links to the Four Mile Creek Greenway and the McMullen Creek Greenway, connecting residents to these scenic wildlife corridors, as well as to shopping centers and other neighborhoods. And for the birders: the first documented Great Blue Heron rookery in Mecklenburg County was found nestled among the trees that now line the trail. The area also provides shelter to many other birds–including two colorful migratory species, the American Redstart and the Scarlet Tanager.
This hike is offered for FREE by Catawba Lands Conservancy (CLC) and Carolina Thread Trail (CTT). If you’d like to support the work that we do to conserve land and build trails, consider making a donation on our website.
