Conservancy-protected farms you can visit

Below are some of the farms that have conservation easements with the Catawba Lands Conservancy or are home to a segment of the Carolina Thread Trail that you can visit or support by buying produce.  Check their websites before heading out to make sure the info listed here is still accurate and the farm is open for visitors.

 

Barrier Farms

4875 BARRIER STORE ROAD, MOUNT PLEASANT NC 28124

A section of the Carolina Thread Trail runs along the fields of Barrier Farms. They sell several farm products on their website, and also have some great recipes.

 

Hunter Farm

13624 PROVIDENCE RD, WEDDINGTON, NC 28104

Hunter Farm offers year-round activities, including strawberry picking, hayrides, encounter with animals, and even summer camps and a community garden where you can grow your own produce.

 

Laurel Hill Farm

2421 Ranlo-Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia, NC 28056

The Laurel Hill property is approximately 240 acres in Gaston County, most of which is permanently protected. Laurel Hill Preserve is part of the Spencer Mountain Conservation Area which adjoins over 1500 acres of protected beautiful hardwood forests, working farms, streams, ponds, and breathtaking views. They have an online store selling goats, eggs, flowers, and more. The Farm hosts events, but is not open for general visitors.

 

Riverbend Farm

12150 McManus Road, Midland, NC 28107

Home to a segment of the Carolina Thread Trail, this farm has hosted a pumpkin playground every October for the last 28 years.
