Jan. 11 – Foothills Nature Hike at Girl Scout Trail
*Pre-registration is required for this free program
Our slow, meandering rivers and creeks are the life force of the Southern Piedmont, and few trails offer such connection to their natural beauty as the Girl Scout Trail along the South Yadkin River. Best in Winter when the fallen leaves offer expansive views of the river and the mature oak-hickory forest shows its skeleton structure, we’ll hike at a relaxing pace and stop periodically to discuss any notable plants and wildlife we come across. We’ll also be sure to discuss the ways that land conservation and trail building go hand in hand to protect and connect our region.
