RedSky Gallery/pARTners Art Show and Sale will benefit the Carolina Thread Trail in Mecklenburg County: Now through Nov. 9
Check out this video of Tom Okel, executive director of Catawba Lands Conservancy, at the opening reception for an art exhibit called Through the Seasons: Charlotte’s Greenways on why conservation and The Thread are so important to our region. Open through Nov. 9 at RedSky Gallery, this exhibit features dozens of paintings that capture the natural beauty of Mecklenburg County’s greenways. Proceeds will benefit The Thread. |
RedSky Gallery owner, Kellie Scott, is a huge advocate of the greenway system. So moved by her time walking on the greenways, she decided to organize a group of local artists to paint the greenways in a way that inspired them.
The group of nine artists, called pARTners, had its first group show in Charlotte on Oct. 11; the art highlights the enormous beauty and vitality of the greenways in and around the city in a collection of 94 pieces of artwork. About 80 pieces remain for sale and the proceeds will benefit the Carolina Thread Trail.
Kellie Scott says, “Paintings will reflect the different characteristics of each greenway like those that are highly wooded compared to those with vast open areas. Some have walkways over water plains while others are farmland.”
RedSky Gallery is located at 1523 Elizabeth Avenue, Ste 120. The show runs during normal business hours through Nov. 9. You can also preview the art on the pARTners website, at www.partnersart.net.
RedSky Gallery will donate 10% of the proceeds to the Carolina Thread Trail to help raise needed funds and awareness for the trails in Mecklenburg County.
