Picnic with Us April 28 in Freedom Park

Fresh air. Fabulous local food. Bluegrass music. An evening to remember in Freedom Park!

Join us on Friday, April 28, for the inaugural Pop-Up Picnic at Freedom Park!  This community picnic promises to be a Charlotte favorite, inviting everyone to enjoy an evening outside.

Spread a blanket and dine on picnic fare prepared by  local restaurants  or pack your own meal to share with friends and family.  Listen to live bluegrass music, catch up with neighbors and watch the sun drop behind the Queen City’s celebrated canopy of trees. Picnic goers are encouraged to leave the car behind and walk or bike to Freedom Park along one of the most popular of the Carolina Thread Trail segments, the Little Sugar Creek Greenway.

More than a dozen Charlotte restaurants are preparing gourmet picnic meals that will be available for pre-order online. Or you’re welcome to bring your own picnic meal, but no outside alcohol is allowed. We’ll have wine and beer from Lenny Boy Brewing  for sale.

The Pop-Up Picnic will raise funds and awareness for  land conservation, but there’s no confusing it with a black-tie gala. It’s a fun casual affair for the whole family!

Check back in mid-March for a link to view and reserve picnic meals.
